Hong Nhung's real name is Nguyen Hong Nhung, She chose to use her real name as
her stage name. She was born and grew up in Bien Hoa, Vietnam, but went to
Saigon to attend high school there. In 1994, Hong Nhung immigrated to the United
States and settled in Orange County, Southern California and has lived there
ever since.
Hong Nhung has always enjoyed music as a child, but
contends that there were no role models in her family who are musically
inclined. She claimed to have received no musical instruction. Her musical
talents are derived from a gift of having an ear for music and a voice for
singing. Hong Nhung sang publicly for the first
time when she turned 18 years old. This public debut was also her start to a
career as a night club singer. She worked the Saigon club scene and became quite
popular among club goers.
Hong Nhung loves both Vietnamese and Foreign music, especially foreign Pop Rock,
Disco, and many of the latest hits. Of all the songs she has performed, Hong
Nhung feels that Co`n Ye^u Ma~i is the one song which launched her
singing career and thus occupies a very special place in her heart.
To date, her canadanian (Victoria) stop in
April 1997 is most memorable stage performance since it was her first trip outside the US.
Hong Nhung also felt that her concert in Hanoi in 1989 is probably the other
more memorable event in her career thus far.
Although Hong Nhung is fairly new to the music fans outside of Vietnam, she is
beginning to build a strong following. She usually meets and interacts with her
fans at concerts or in the clubs where she performs. In her spare time Hong
Nhung stays in shape by going to the spa. She enjoys listening to music and of
course, shopping! Like many Vietnamese, her favorite food are Pho+? and Che`.
Hong nhung's first CD project is currently in the works. She plans to sing at
various concerts during the Christmas season throughout the US. Her goals for
the immediate future are to be involved in various recording projects,
performing in overseas concerts and writing songs.
